New version (marc2.zip) attached. This one works on my systems. Please confirm and comment.
I think this is the last issue we should clear before 2.8.0 final, unless another issue shows up.

and the comments I made. Basically, if we can find a way to make this work without having to rely on a .htaccess, it would be better for some of our users who are not allowed to use .htaccess.
