Thanks for the reply. I was wrong. It doesn't require internet access. A bit of looking into google-authenticator clarified it. HOTP and TOTP algorithms manage to maintain sync on their own. I thought they would require network access.

First of all I don't think that 2FA needs interned access. You generate
the key, share it with authentication app by displaying the QR code onthe screen and it's done.

Anyway even if it would require internet access, this will still be
optional feature, so it's up to user if he wants to enable it or not.
