I introduced a workaround in MAINT_2_8_0, seems to work but I'll wait tomorrow 
for 2.8.0. Please comment.

While testing, I noticed that octetstream:download fails (at least when the 
contents is a PNG image). Then I tested 2.6.4-pl4 and it fails too!
