I suggest you to play with PMA and check where you think AJAX should  applied.
suggest something that makes PMA AJAXify..

assuming GSoC 2011 happens and phpMyAdmin participates, you can prepare

Did you try version 3.4.0-beta2? There are some areas already AJAXified.
