I just realized that we cannot use this character as it might be required in the data as well.

To avoid conflicting with other browser functionalities we probably will have to go for a 3 key short cut. I propose Ctrl+Alt+C.

Do you think that we need to let the user customize this with a configuration? If so, I think the new configuration should come in 4.4 rather than in bug fix releases.
