Ok, will check the other things .
Regarding the concern for  duplicating thing from similar product,yes we can keep this point in mind while designing and make our own unique design.

i had one more idea in this same  query generation field, if we can provide a natural language processing tool (NLP) with phpmyadmin,this will be completely new and here people with little or no SQL knowledge can generate queries just by writting their queries in plain english.!!
i have seen some similar open source tools ,we can integrate them with phpmyadmin
one such tool is developed by mark watson and is open source

i have myself done some basic project in NLP at my college,

but  for this summer i will like to concentrate on visual query generation.

Well, the Designer is not only for defining relationships, there are
other buttons at the top that give other functionnalities. But you're
right, a visual query builder would be good.

A challenge will be to try not duplicating the visual aspect of other
similar products.
