Hi all,

I read about the project idea 'Zoom search' [0] on GSoC 2011 Ideas List and I think the concept applies to GIS data more than anything else.

Unlike other data types spatial data almost always needs a graphic visualizer to make it more useful. Unless visualized you can't figure out what the the data relates to, can'f figure out geographical data in your head without projecting longitude/latitude pairs onto a map. So I propose a data visualizer for GIS data as a part of 'OpenGIS support' [1], suggested in GSoC 2011 Ideas List.

Zooming, text on hovering and other actions suggested under Zoom search would make this visualization also a source for search and clicking on an item would take you to browse the corresponding data. This would make GIS data compatible with Zoom search proposed.

I would much appreciate your comments on this idea.
