I believe we heard at FOSDEM that the future of the BLOBstreaming engine/service, is uncertain anyway. No objection from my part.

No objection. I've hardly heard that anybody is using this feature.

No objections from my side, I have no clue how much used it could be (on the other side it does not seem to be somehow especially buggy code).

Right but it adds some overhead; I'll remove the code from master.
