Interesting... but

1. phpMyAdmin can be run on non-Apache servers ... are those supporting the
.htaccess convention?

2. even on Apache, the webmaster can configure it to ignore .htaccess, see
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/core.html#allowoverride
