I have looked thru the bug tracker, and all that I see is that arrays with
references in them have serious problems. Two dimensonal arrays and all
the other things that we use in the PMA configuration are fine.

Comments were added in 3.23.0. So basically all of 3.23 is safe for using
comments on tables.

The other question with it, is the question of is serialize gaurenteed to
return strings for use in TEXT, or does it return binary data that needs
BLOB?

There is something else I have been working on in PHP, basically a bit of
code you throw at the start of a page, that handles however those sessions
were set, no matter what the PHP configuration options are. Additionally,
I am working with using the PHP CVS presently, on Apache2. In looking at
the changes in how PHP works from PHP 4.0 to 4.1, I think I will work for
those versions of PHP, for a few reasons, mostly the fact that the
database configuration would work best on newer versions.
The configuration database system is a very advanced feature. Those that
are running it will most likely be very high end users or ISPs. That means
they will be running up to date versions of PHP and MySQL. If they aren't,
then they should be running them.

I was off the mailing list for a while. Could somebody recap as to why
SHOW GRANTS and SHOW DATABASE are not workable? Is there any reason other
than the version of MySQL?
How many ISPs still use MySQL 3.22? Additionally, looking thru the MySQL
mailing list, it is possible that 3.22 will reach the end of it's support
life when 4.0 is fully rolled out.
