i ahve no trouble with this statement - on my devel machine with local
web and mysql server - a dedicated db server should be much faster than
my machine ...

what MySQL version is running there?

another thing is i have only db's named 1 ... 4000 ... possible MySQL
makes more trouble with 'normal' db names
