Yes, it's defnitely not something for 3.3  branch.

Well this thing is quite easy to implement. The big question is how
much we want to bloat our configuration options.

I think this is the hardest one. Some students already contacted me
that they would be interested in GSoC project for improving user
interface, but it will definitely not be the easy one and it would need
somebody with UI experiences.
