I think I understand, a feature requested(
http://sourceforge.net/p/phpmyadmin/feature-requests/1486/)
could solve expand too many nodes problem, and already on my GSoC proposal,
also
Madhura's PR(https://github.com/phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin/pull/1104) contain it,
though Madhura's PR must rewrite.
