[phpMyAdmin Developers] 4.8.0-alpha?

I forget and can't find it documented anywhere; should we branch QA_4_8
when releasing 4.8.0-alpha or the actual 4.8.0 release? I kind of think
that last time we waited until the actual release to do so, but just wanted
to ask again.
