Hi, Two days ago I wrote "I suggest we release 4.4.0-alpha1 in order to get more feedback.".
I would appreciate some reactions, thanks.

The only show-stopper I can think of at the moment is the "token mismatch" when logging into the non-default server. But since the tracker migration, I can't even find it any more in the list of bugs.
Except that (and with any luck it'll be 4.0.0 rather than 4.4.0), I'm ok with releasing the alpha.

The migration did not take into account the tickets opened after the migration had started, but we should be able to see them in the archive for mailing list phpmyadmin-trk-bugs (and create them in the new system). I'll have a look during my lunch break to port these.

Sorry for the typo...

I created two tickets from the mailing list; sadly, the one about "token mismatch" was not there can someone recreate it?

Hi Rushan,
a good start would be not to hijack other people's threads on the mailing list :)
If you are interested to contribute to phpMyAdmin, we have some documentation that can help you getting started at [0] and [1].
If you're interested specifically in development, to begin you could fork our git repo[2], fix some simple bugs or implement some feature requests on our tracker[3] and submit pull requests for them.
If you have any more specific questions, feel free to ask.
Bye, Rouslan

Hi,
Rouslan did an excellent job of pointing you to some of the resources for contributing code to phpMyAdmin. There are many other ways you can get involved; if you know phpMyAdmin you can help offer user support in IRC, you could offer suggestions for improving the documentation, or of course fixing existing bug reports or feature requests is a good way to contribute actual code.
This is the first time i posted in a mailing list. That,s why i had erased all the threads of others.
On this list in particular and most mailing lists in general, we use threading extensively to keep conversations in context. Hitting "reply" to an existing message puts that reply in the conversation, even if you erase all the text from the message body. This isn't obvious if you're not using a threaded mail client. Anyway, in that case it's better to start a new message to the mailing list, rather than replying to an existing message. Since it's your first experience on a mailing list, I'll also mention that we also use inline quoting of messages, which you can see in my reply here, which basically only takes a relevant portion of the original message, rather than quoting the entire message in the reply. If you're interested in reading more about that, wikipedia has a lengthy article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posting_style
Anyway, welcome. ~isaac

I feel the same; let's wait 24 hours to be sure we all agree.
