We should evaluate if there are many users like those, who want to be able to disable the 4.0-style tree-nav. Can we perhaps put up a poll on pma.net to find out? Just wondering.

In my opinion, I think we can have this feature, for me, it is useful. but we should also have an opinion on the navigation panel for "turn off Tree View"(users can easily turn off or turn on Tree View) and have a new feature about "Most often used Databases"
thanks,
Adam
Hi,
according to entire discussion, in the [0], it seemed the problem was not the tree structure, but rather the inability of the tree based navigation to remember its last state, after the query. So if we can fix that, i think the problem will be solved.
However as the adam suggested, we can have that "Most often used Database" feature. Along with that we can also provide the sorting of the database on the basis of their creation time(so the most recently created database will always be on the top). I guess providing these kind of options will definitely help the help the user, but reverting back to old dropdown database selection will not be a good idea.

From the disscusion, we can fix the issue as ayush mentioned firstly, but users also mentioned that it is not easy to find the Database from the Tree view. we have some features to help user find the wanted Database based on Tree view instead of removal of Tree view. such as "Most often used Database"

That's why there is a fast-filter feature...

I've not been able to reproduce that problem; could you walk me through steps to reproduce?

...unless you're referring to https://sourceforge.net/p/phpmyadmin/feature-requests/1398/ ?

Seems like people are literally teaming up there and making demand! Meanwhile, I gave a try implementing https://sourceforge.net/p/phpmyadmin/feature-requests/1435/ (which seems like an improvement to me as it reduces the number of clicks)

We should evaluate if there are many users like those, who want to be able to disable the 4.0-style tree-nav. Can we perhaps put up a poll on pma.net to find out? Just wondering.
+1 to the poll if we are to consider providing option for alternate
"dropdown feature"...

Well, at the team meeting, we decided against offering a non-tree view option.
But of course, improvements in the tree view are welcome.

Let's have a look at your implementation ASAP.

Atul, this looks fine to me, please merge to origin/QA_4_0 and origin/master.
