Hi all as we are already getting questions from students (I also got few off list), it's time to prepare for GSoC this year. I want to know, are you interesting in ideas that become to phpmyadmin in a better system of data bases? may i send a simple idea and you tell me if you can be interesting? for example, i have a idea, i want to make to phpmyadmin a module which there the programmer can view all the SQL codes that has been generated... another idea that i have, it is that shares more security to the tables pre-uploaded like mysql and information_schema tables.. Thanks i wait for your answer.

[Phpmyadmin-devel] question (problems logging into phpMyAdmin)

Hello, I'm new to using phpMyAdmin and am having trouble logging in. I'm wondering if someone can help me. I have successfully installed phpMyAdmin on my server (linux, has all the requisite stuff needed to run everything) but i get this error: #1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) (also this one: Cannot load mcrypt extension. Please check your PHP configuration.) i tried the documented suggestion: $cfg['Servers'][$i]['user'] = 'root'; $cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = 'cbb74bc'; // use here your password $cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'config' by putting in my own password with root as the login and got same error. also tried $cfg['Servers'][$i]['nopassword'] and generating a script using phpMyAdmin/setup/ which also didn't allow login. i created a "config" folder under phpMyAdmin and dropped the config.inc.php into that, and also dropped it into /setup/frames/ with the various attempts and that didn't work either does anyone know how to fix? thanks!

Hello, I'm sorry to post such a basic question, but I hope one of you can help me with something. I have created a demo database at www.phpmyadmin.net. It has a database > table > records etc and everything looks good on that end. I am running a browser .pl script to read the database, from a different web server/different url. In my script, I am trying to log into the database to read it, and I keep getting "Unknown MySQL server host" - but to me it looks like it should go through. The database host is: my [dollar sign]dbhost = 'http://demo.phpmyadmin.net/trunk/index.php'; The database is: my [dollar sign]dbname = '[my_database_name]'; The login is: $dblogin= 'root'; Pass is: my $dbpass = ''; (i leave this empty) To me it looks like it should work, but it isn't and I keep getting the error. Can someone help me figure out what's wrong? If for some reason, the demo site doesn't let me run scripts from an outside server to query a demo db, then is there a place on the demo site where I can run the .pl script against the db? Thanks!
