Hi all
I know we stopped shipping default config file because it leads to
unability to change effectively defaults. However some kind of default
config is useful when you want to configure manually for whatever
reason. So what about shipping some minimal default config file
(as /config.default.inc.php) only with commonly used settings? I'd
suggest just one server section + blowfish secret. This would
hopefully prevent users blindly copying libraries/config.defaults.php.

* load text files into tables
* create (*) and read dumps of tables or databases
* export (*) data to SQL, CSV, XML, Word, Excel, PDF and Latex formats
* administer multiple servers
* manage MySQL users and privileges
* check server settings and runtime information with configuration
hints
* check referential integrity in MyISAM tables
* using Query-by-example (QBE), create complex queries automatically
connecting required tables
* create PDF graphics of your Database layout
* search globally in a database or a subset of it
* transform stored data into any format using a set of predefined
functions,
like displaying BLOB-data as image or download-link
* support InnoDB tables and foreign keys (see FAQ 3.6)
* support mysqli, the improved MySQL extension (see FAQ 1.17)
* communicate in 50 different languages

Hi Michal,
Juergen reported that in 2.8.2.3, setup script does not work and I
confirm (on systems with register_globals set to Off).
At the beginning we now have
$PMA_Config_Setup = new PMA_Config();
and later we do
if ( $GLOBALS['PMA_Config']->get( 'PMA_PHP_INT_VERSION' ) < 40100) {
which is a line (1836) that fails.
But sometimes this script refers to
$PMA_Config_Setup->get('PMA_VERSION')
What is the reason for $GLOBALS['PMA_Config'] ?
Marc
Hi,
This one contains two fixes:
- cookie login on IIS with IE6
- switching from scripts/setup.php to the main script in case of
register_globals enabled

Hi,
Please comment on this patch which fixes (at least on my server) the
problem of going from the main PMA script to scripts/setup.php and back.
I noticed that "source" was empty when I have this problem.
Patch is against MAINT_2_8_2.

Hi,
see how Pair asks users to install and configure phpMyAdmin:
http://www.pair.com/support/knowledge_base/authoring_development/tools_of_t…
- they ask users to download config.default.php, modify it, then upload
as config.inc.php
- they ask users to run it thru CGI and a PHP CGI wrapper for "proper
security", probably to avoid the stealing of MySQL credentials.
- no mention of auth_type='cookie'
Hi,
are you ready?
I'm still not sure about bug #1536112 but we can release a beta as this
problem is in 2.8.2.2 and anyway it does not happen on all tested servers.
Marc
