So it is no problem as it was two years after initial phpMyAdmin release. In case we use something patented there, I thing you have good chance to win if they decide to sue you.

btw. i don't take it too hard/heavy, i just want to mention
and personally i don't care much about software patents - but phpMyAdmin is not only used in Europe ...
Sebastian, you seem to think that a US patent covers all non-european countries :)
