Anyways, I guess better luck next year! :) It was nice though because it got me going! I'm definitely going to make that patch awesome! :D
Philip, it happens that a student submits many patches and is even invited to be part of the team, before sending his application to GSoC.
This is the best way to proceed, as participating in the open source movement should not be limited to a few weeks during GSoC.
