Another question we can ask to see if they are familiar with phpMyAdmin : 'What is your favorite phpMyAdmin feature?' and/or 'What feature or improvement would make phpMyAdmin even better?'
I'm okay with both of them being included.
I added them to the template.
I also took the liberty to move the motivation question. It was between questions on the project proposal. It seemed appropriate to move it below that section.
About the motivation question : The question asks about the applicant's motivation to take part in GSoC. We could extend this question and ask why they chose to submit an application with phpMyAdmin?
What do we want to learn with this question? Whether they will consider normal to join the team afterwards, if they are invited?
It could tell us if they are in it for the money, to get some experience developing outside a school environement, looking to participate in FLOSS, as a first step to continue contributing, ... (or a combination of these)
Maybe it would be better to phrase it that way.
Another question we could ask : 'Did you submit an application with another mentoring organisation?' If they do we could ask a follow up question, which one they prefer in case of deduplication? But I'm not sure the answer they would give, would be anything else than "I'd like to keep my options open, bet on multiple horses, but in the end I prefer your organisation". Asking for a prefered project in case of submitting multiple would make more sense on the Melange website level. But this was discussed on the GSoC mentors mailing list already, I believe.
