Hi, at the last phpMyAdmin team meeting, we started a discussion about an eventual mobile-ready version.
Some developers mentionned the possibility of using Twitter Bootstrap for this, while other developers were not sure about the feasibility of this, due to the amount of data to show when browsing a table, for example.
We would like to take the pulse of the community about such a development; it might become part of our list of ideas for Google Summer of Code 2014.
hi, just saw this thread i think you should check this link foundation.zurb.com . apart from bootstrap , foundtion is also a good responsive framework
cheers rahul

WatchGuard Dimension instantly turns raw network data into actionable security intelligence. It gives you real-time visual feedback on key security issues and trends. Skip the complicated setup - simply import a virtual appliance and go from zero to informed in seconds.

Hi, I'm Edward Chen, a Chinese student from Tianjin, I have some HTML 5, PHP, Javascript (most using jQuery) projects experience, although no achievements yet, i think i can handle this task (mobile-ready version).
And I'm reading PMA's source these days, PMA's desktop user interface should be upgraded. Two new official theme, one for modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, IE 9+), another for old browers (IE 6-8), of course only have style differents, some DOM structures need rewarite, more concise and orderly structure...
*Now I'm coding a demo... I want to select "Improve DOM structure and two new themes" for my GSoC's project... Any advice? Thanks...*
If there any bad manners i've made, i'm very sorry about that...My English is not very good...

Hi,
If you are interested in applying for GSoC 2014, you can have a look at the Applicant guide [0] on our wiki. There you will find all information to apply for a project, in particular the timeline for GSoC 2014 and the requirements we have for applicants (submitting at least one patch).
Please note that the selection process for organisations still has to start, so on February 24th, 2014, we will know if phpMyAdmin will be accepted as a mentoring organisation for GSoC 2014.

I think we can stick with bootstrap as it cover everything from core UI development to icons while foundation.zurb only gives us platform for base design development. Also we do not need to consider much compatibility issues as both have similar behaviour with IE 8 (or low) or other older versions of browsers. But I really wonder about the utility of a mobile version of *phpMyadmin*? how would a user/developer use it?

Indeed, discussing the utility of a mobile version is partly why we want the pulse of the community.
