Hi All!
So now, what about a 2.2.0 (or 2.5.0 ?) this week-end ?
I prefer 2.2.0 because no huge testings have been done yet (I would like to see some ISP upgrading their current version with the 2.2.0, facing some annoying bugs....)
There are still lots of things on the tracker, but are here still very urgent bugs ?
Maybe one or two: - see message #185178 in the Open discussion forum (for Marc IMHO); - see message #186321 in the Open discussion forum (Pete may be the one who knows the best this part of the code);
As to me, I would like to implement a better authentification system (because the current one requires Apache, php loaded as an apache module -quite restrictive-, and there is no way to trully logout with it). A patch has been put into the patch tracker to use a cookie driven authentification work and could be merged quickly into the current code. But of course it requires the user to enable cookies. An other way could be to use a db session driven handler (just like phpLib) but then it requires a db and a table to be created before to use phpMyAdmin...
We discussed a bit about these alternatives with Marc. Maybe some other ones among you have some more ideas?
Greets, Loïc

Ciao Loic & everybody,
First of all, please have a look at the http://www.phpwizard.net/projects/phpMyAdmin/ pages, and the links in the menu. Ftp access will come in a few days, but that's already much better, don't you think ? :)

seems that (nearly) everybody is for a 2.2.0, so ok.

well, that's perhaps too big for a few days... Maybe we can plan it for 2.3, or 2.2.xx ?

1) php4 sessions + will work if cookies are turned off + standard + don't need a special mysql setup - no more php3 support...
2) own (sql-based-) session db + would work with php3 + will work if cookies are turned off (if we add the session ID in all urls) - more complex setup, but could be automated with the bookmarks stuff.
3) cookies + light - won't work if cookies are tuned off
Well, IMHO we can throw away the 3. And also the 1. if we want to keep the whole compatible with php3. But how long will we have to stay stuck to php3 ?
So I guess the 2. ist the "less worse" solution. What do yo think ?
Cheers, Olivier
This is good news!
Olivier, do you also have access to modify this:
because this page says that the latest version is 2.0.5 and that the latest version is 2.1.0 :)

no, but I'll ask, thx for the notice. Olivier
Olivier,
about this page:
- the support forum does not work (is it still available?)
- the ChangeLog link points to an older ChangeLog.txt, could it point to the most recent one?
BTW, did Tobias give you access to his old phpmyadmin mailing list?

Check those links:
http://phpwizard.net/phorum/list.php?f=1 (does not work)
http://www.phpwizard.net/phorum/list.php?f=1 (works)

Both are looking fine from here...

AFAIK, it still work ( http://phpwizard.net/phorum/list.php?f=1 )
- the ChangeLog link points to an older ChangeLog.txt, could it point to the most recent one?
fixed that. ChangeLog.txt is a symlink to phpMyAdmin-devel/ChangeLog, in the httproot. To update it (must be done manually): ssh to shell.soureforge.net, cd /home/groups/p/ph/phpmyadmin/htdocs/phpMyAdmin-devel, cvs update -d
BTW, did Tobias give you access to his old phpmyadmin mailing list?
nope, not yet (one thing at a time! it's already quite a miracle that the current pages have been updated :).
