Can you help me to point out how is that possible? Because while using google authenticator some data will be sent to the server then only we will be able to receive the message on our phone right? And how will the people not having android or ios phone use google authenticator app? Hi, It doesn't require internet. As far as I understand, when you scan the code, a seed is shared by app on your phone and authentication system you are logging into. This seed is used to generate OTP (HOTP or TOTP) on your mobile app which can be verified by authentication system.
