Hi, i have used phpMyadmin for few of my projects,but the query builder tool provided is not very user friendly and has a limited scope I wish to add a query-builder for phpMyAdmin which will be powered by javascript and will also show the *Relational Schema diagram* for our database. A good GUI support will be provided with this extension so developers can easily select the attributes from various tables in the database diagram and generate SQL query. with this extension JOINS and other complex query can be easily written. further this project can be extended and we can build Data-Objects in our Schema where query builder will generate all queries as different functions and we can add this file in our main code and use these function. hi everyone, Well i have made some changes towards implementing the AJAX UI in form of a plug-in with slight change to the native code. 1. Created the folder ajaxUI in the root directory which will house all the files related to the AJAX UI. This folder will be helpful as this will house all the code for the ajax UI. 2. Added 2 new variables in the $cfg array in config.default.php. here is a snippet of the added code /**************************************************************************************** * Ajax UI config variables * */ /** * Advanced Ajax UI feature can be disable by the Admin * * @global boolean cfg['advancedAjaxInterface'] */ $cfg['advancedAjaxInterface'] = TRUE; /** * Advanced Ajax UI feature can be disable by the Admin * * @global string cfg['pma_current_UI'] * @possible values 'advanced' 'standard' * @default "standard" */ $cfg['pma_current_UI'] = 'standard'; The Administrator can choose to enable or disable the ajax interface using the config variable and in that case the option (mentioned in the next point) will not be displayed. 3. Added the user option to select his current interface according to his need. (check the attached image). 4, Modified files like sql.php to get the desired html output suitable for the Ajax interface if selected by the user (BY checking the value of $cfg['pma_current_UI'] ). but I am struck in the *./libraries/common.inc.php *becoz this file converts the all the POST and GET variables in to $_REQUEST variables and loads the $cfg variables into $GLOBALS. Hello everyone, my name is Martynas, and I am thinking about participating in GSOC 2010. I have to say that I am happy to see PMA in the accepted projects list. I was looking through the proposed ideas list for PMA and charts idea really caught my interest. Charts in the server status page would be nice to have. I have quickly glanced through the code in server_status.php. It seems that there are just a few statistical values available from DB server that are worth putting to the charts. Most of the values in the server status page are approximated. I have also came up with another idea about charts. What would you think of plotting a result of more or less any SQL query? There have been lots of situations when I tracked some "development" in my database and seeing a graph/chart instead of a result table would have been much nicer. I will also try to look through the bug tracker/feature request list to see if there is something I could get my hands on quickly. I have noticed that you are using git as versioning system. Is there any PMA developer using Windows? I am using msysgit and was wondering if there are any alternatives. Looking forward for you comments. Martynas

To PMA Team, I'm the guy who asked about how to send a zip with screen shots and an RTF file. My gratitude to Mr. Cihar for his answer, suggesting to use a 3rd party image sharing site. My question: surely there must be a simpler way. I can track an Amazon package that is traveling halfway around the world, but I can't submit a few images for your review and comments? No attachments? I apologize in advance if it reads like I'm being persistent, that is not my intention. However, there should be a simpler way for submitting visually-oriented proposals. The PMA team may actually like what I send. I'm just trying to see if I can contribute in a small way, but that would require a fluid exchange of ideas, an electronic conversation if you will. How do people submit screen-shots or themes or anything that is not ASCII text in an email? We have to have an efficient way, or establish one. If this email aggravates the team, please don't answer it, and I won't pursue the matter. Again, thank you for PMA, and thank you for all your hard work. Best Regards, Nissim

I've done something wrong I guess : I was looking for the Documentation.html file in the phpmyadmin/website project, but couldn't find it. Eventually I came across it in the localized_docs project, and changed the file, but it turns out to be in the output folder, so it will probably be overwritten next time the documentation is generated. Should I have modified all the files in the po folder? What about the files in the pot directory? Or am I changing it in a complete wrong place/way? Thanks for clarifying. Regards, Dieter

Title: AJAXifying phpMyAdmin with jQuery Name: Emily Brand Location: Chicago, CST I will use jQuery to essentially make 90% of the administration ajax-style so that not as many reloads will have to occur throughout the site. Speed is quite a problem in phpMyAdmin at the moment, especially while running locally (at least on my computer). I am proposing not only switching the top navigation menu over to jQuery, but also editing table structures, searching tables, building queries, inserting new fields and new rows, and much more. I will also allow the site to degrade nicely if a user does not have javascript enabled. I am planning on converting the following features to AJAX-style coding: Top Navigation Bar Adding Fields to tables Validating the inserted fields Inserting/updating rows in tables Search Function Query Builder Function primary/unique/index keys Empty/Drop/Delete Does anyone have any more suggestions of things I can add to my timeline?
