Hi!
I'm Kaarel Nummert from Estonia doing BSc in Computer Science and
Mathematics in The University of Edinburgh.
I've been writing PHP for quite a few years now. For the last three years
I've been involved in developing a web platform (and applications for it) in
PHP with an Estonian company.
Project for GSoC will be to port a part of PMA to OO structure. I will dive
into more detail in my application which I will post over the weekend. I'll
ask for comments once it's up there. This e-mail is just to let you know of
my existence and my plan to contribute to PMA.
So far I've only submitted a tiny fix for a bug, but I will submit at least
one more over the weekend.
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2976790&group_id=23067&atid…
I've opened up a blog where I plan to post reports on my progress on GSoC.
Nothing there yet though.

Best Regards,
Kaarel Nummert

When you say you think it would be great are you thinking that just the
user preferences would be great and large enough for GSoC or my current
proposal? Thanks for all your help!

Hi,
Now that js/update-location.js is converted to jQuery -- thanks Michal
-- I believe we could remove the loading of mootools.js from index.php.
Unless there is some dependency to Mootools inside js/common.js but I
think not.

Yeah, I'll see about making myself more clear.
I was thinking about storing configuration values in a database or file like
the current config.inc.php.
Is the project to large? I didn't think it would be that big, but you
probably would know better than me. Should I narrow my focus?

Hi Michal,
Thanks for the heads up, I planned on submitting the real thing later
this week. I just wanted to post it up here for any feedback to make
it better. But if no feedback can be given I'll just send it along to
the GSoC website. Thanks!

Hi,
I'l submit my proposal formally on march 29.
Regarding Exporting it to XML format what i intended to say was i want to
exporting whole database into XML format with one click.
I've an idea on how to do it. MySQL supports converting sql query result
into XML and Mysql also displays complete list of tables using "show
tables;" We have to merge both the features. I Dont know if its extensively
useful but as an admin UI i want to provide all the features.
Thanks & Regards

Hi,
these are interesting points that you can put in your formal proposal,
when Google's interface accepts proposals on March 29.

In phpMyAdmin 3.3.1, in table Export you can export in XML. Did you try it?

Hello all!
Just realized that I was on the wrong mailing list and figured out that I
should be on this one (embarrassed). But, no matter, I wrote up my proposal
while wondering why no one was talking to me. If you would like to view the
rough proposal I wrote up you can view it here -

I would appreciate any feedback that I can get (about the project, the
timeline, anything), I would enjoy working with PMA as part of GSoC. Thank
you!

Hi,
in libraries/messages.inc.php we have
$strCreateTableShort = _pgettext('$strCreateTableShort', 'Create table');
This gives a good result for all languages I tried, except English (US).
