[Phpmyadmin-devel] phpMyAdmin not working in Safari web browser

Hi, I was using Safari 5.1.7 for windows (fresh install, default settings) and when I opened the phpMyAdmin on localhost I got a blank page (only favicon in URL bar was displayed). I tested it on demo server (demo.phpmyadmin.net) on following branches: * Master: Got a blank page (even login page was not working). See [1] * QA_4_2: Page loaded but no icons/images were loaded. * STABLE: Same as QA_4_2. See [2] [1]: http://imgur.com/gj2Mcgt [2]: http://imgur.com/IJsAR0n I tested this on Windows 7 and XP both with Safari 5.1.7. Can anyone else check this on Safari web browser either on Mac or Windows? -- Regards, Chirayu Chiripal phpMyAdmin Intern - Google Summer of Code 2014 https://chirayuchiripal.wordpress.com/

I had a similar experience but I thought, its some issue with my safari in windows 8. However it worked well with safari on OS X Maverick. On 7/28/14, Chirayu Chiripal <chirayu.chiripal@gmail.com> wrote:

The lastest Safari for windows released at 2012, I think we don't need to support it. 2014-07-28 19:11 GMT+08:00 Minhaz A V <minhazav@gmail.com>:

But this is complete breakdown. As it is latest version for windows we might need to support it. And Safari 5 is the latest version in OS X Snow Leopard.

Chirayu, maybe you can try with an older phpMyAdmin version like QA_4_0 or QA_4_1. If it works, git bisect will help you find the first "bad" commit. -- Marc Delisle | phpMyAdmin

Sure, I'll try it. First, I will look for the bad commit in master, the one giving blank page. Later, I will look for broken icons/images in QA_4_2.

Git bisect says this commit: https://github.com/phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin/commit/bc8f797746f6baab5d7de0f81903... (Remove CSP support for ancient Safari versions) and it seems like support for Safari versions < 6 was removed.

This would make sense; I'm testing with Safari 7.x and have no problems.

Indeed it was removed by me as I thought it's old enough browser not to be used. It's more than two years old and without security fixes being released for it. Feel free to revert if you thin we should still support it... -- Michal Čihař | http://cihar.com | http://phpmyadmin.net
