yes - i thought our next release will be 2008 - this is a long time, at this point 5 is a good choice - and i thought currently it does not hurt to allow 4.1 too - i do not know how many people direct fetch from svn for testing or demo and what MySQL servers they are running

Well it might send the wrong message. Yes 3.0 is targeted for 2008 but IMO a user trying it from trunk has to be informed about the PHP and MySQL minimum requirements of this branch -- I mean even with a fatal error if MySQL < 5.

Ah, but this is not being rude, just informative. Those are the real requirements of PMA 3.0. It's better for a tester to know it now in order to prepare his upgrades (or prepare to switch provider).
