I do not thing it is possible to create any application without breaking someones patents. I guess you should read FFII [1] website and look at their demonstration of patents [2].

So it is no problem as it was two years after initial phpMyAdmin release. In case we use something patented there, I thing you have good chance to win if they decide to sue you.

Why not? I doubt there is enforceable patent that would cover it.

What I take away from that discussion is that the patent only covers generation/editing of rich media with rich media apps. So, for example, a Flash-based AJAX editor. It still sounds bogus, but it's considerably narrower than covering all AJAX and Flash apps.
