Hi everyone, Some of you might remember I asked for a structure diff earlier, I want to compare 2 tables and get an alter query which would make the target table to look exactly like the original table. I have now made a small hack which almost does this, at least it show the idea of what I want it to be. I added the file diff_tables.php which currently takes ?db as an get argument. It shows the table in that database and you can pick 2 tables to compare and you get a hopefully working alter query. :) I modified left.php to show a link after the num_tables, like (diff) which goes to diff_tables.php with ?db as the database. If you want to try it out, patch your 2.3.2 version of phpmyadmin with the files, or visit http://www.egp.cx/phpMyAdmin-2.3.2/ where I put up a patched version. Please dont destroy the tables to much. :) Some ideas of what to improve: * maintain the order of the fields * maintain keys/indexes and auto_increment fields * make it possible to diff tables between databases * make it possible to diff create table queries * create a nice graphical view over whats added/changed/dropped Do you have any furhter suggestions? Please comment and try it out and think about it. Background A Data Dictionary had to be produced for our MySQL databases and we found that there was no functionality to do this. A page was written and I incorporated it into our version of phpMyAdmin. It was also noticed that the print view did not print too well for each individual table so the file for this was tweaked to enable proper printing. Files Changed tbl_printview.php3 db_details_structure.php3 - to include a link to the db_datadict.php3 file lang/english-iso-8859-1.inc.php3 - to include $strDataDict db_datadict.php - new file which produces the full data dictionary and prints each table at the start of a new page. header.inc.php3 - to include a .print style <<db_details_structure.php3>> <<db_datadict.php3>> <<header.inc.php3>> <<tbl_printview.php3>> <<english-iso-8859-1.inc.php3>> Our development team have all seen this change and have been very positive about it. I think this would be a good addition to any future releases of phpMyAdmin. Hi all... I've been a long time lurker, long time user of php and your most excellent tool, phpMyAdmin. I wanted to know if the searching was possible, say for example, searching for a particular string as fieldname, and reporting what table it was in. The reason I ask is that I'm working on a fairly in depth project which deals with multiple languages, and I have several thousand rows already worth of material that is used for configuration data, language strings, etc. I thought it would be handy to have a quick search function where you can pop in some text, and it'd spit out what tables it lives in. Thanx in advance to any curious coders on the list willing to tackle this. Thanx again for a most excellent tool. I have seen this issue crop up several times in the forums but have found no resolution. I am running iis on Windows 2000, php 4.2.3 and phpMyAdmin 2.3.2. I have configured config.inc.php and when I reference index.php I get the error: Fatal error: Failed opening required './libraries/grab_globals.lib.php' (include_path='.;c\php\pear') in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\phpmyadmin\index.php on line 8 I wasn't sure if Winzip was unzipping a subdirectory called "libraries" so I created one of those but got a blank index when I tried that. I've opened my php.ini file and changed the include_path = '.' and "." and I removed the semicolon as well to be sure it wasn't read as a comment. I still get the error, but the "include_path=" just changes to read whatever I change the above to. I am new to php development (3 days young) and need some help. If this is the wrong list ot post this to, I am sorry. Please direct me to the proper list. I am about to start pullin my hair out over this one. Thanks, Bo Parker boparker(a)mindspring.com
