obviously, as http is a stateless protocoll you can't just use pma to send the queries begin update ... then do some selects with pma and afterwards do a rollback. but if i set autocommit to false in the mysql serversettings and in the php.ini set php to use persistent connections as default do you think it would work? if that chance exists i'd start thinking if there is any useful way to help using transactions on innodb tables in pma, but i think that even if you use persistent connections these are only persistent within one apache child, so chances are that the connection is lost nevertheless and thus transaction can never work. can anybody tell me more there? regards mike beck

I think MySQLs Behaviour is correct here - you have a global privilege (even if it doesn't give you any useful right), so you have that for all Databases, so you can view it... What i think does not make any sense is that on upgrading from 3.23, when you run their script to update your rights users that didn't have ANY global rights before automatically get a global 'create temporary table' and 'lock tables'. if you remove that two global privileges everything works as we expect it again. so the question is: is that a bug with the upgrade script? regards Mike Beck

Hi, I just upgraded to MySQL 4.0.12. Someone please explain why a user with CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE is seen by phpMyAdmin as a superuser ($is_superuser is TRUE, this is because USE MYSQL works!) And he sees all databases (but no table). My users got this priv because the had global FILE, I guess. Marc

Hi list I'm jist thinking about automatically detecting whether uploaded sql is compressed or not. Do you thing, we can safely remove current checkboxes and keep everything on autodetection or should we keep them as fallback when detection fails? The detection would check first few bytes ("BZh" is start of bzipped data, and 0x1F 0x8B for gzip).
