Decide if mbstring is required or not

Hi all while looking at our code, I've noticed quite inconsistent behavior for mbstring library. - We require it. - We provide stubs to replace it in cases it's not there [1]. - We use it unconditionally in other places [2]. I think we should settle down to something more consistent :-). Given that requiring it didn't seem to cause much troubles, I'd simply chose this way, but I really don't have strong opinion on this. Redirect loop on demo server ?

Hi all, The demo server link : http://demo.phpmyadmin.net is running into a redirect loop for me. The other link http://phpmyadmin.net/try/ seems to open up, but opening any of the versions again leads to a redirect loop. Testing the upcoming 4.5.3

Hi phpMyAdmin community, Version 4.5.3 is due on December 23. Starting from today, this version is bugfix-frozen and because of to the numerous fixes it contains [0], we ask for testers. The idea is to try as many features as possible, looking for regressions compared with 4.5.2. You can directly use the git branch MAINT_4_5_3 or download a zip archive [1]. Hey there! My name is Birsu Ion and I am a first year student at University Politehnica of Bucharest. I recently heard about Google Summer of Code and I was looking through the organizations and I saw that yours is participating at this project. Even though I am just a first year student, i had the opportunity to work in phpMyAdmin for a long time ( like 3 years ) , as in highschool I had implemented a little web application based on php, html5 , javascript and mysql for testing students on computer. I had a great time using phpMyAdmin at that time and I still use it in my current web development projects, so I thought it will be nice if I would contribute as this great project. I am a beginner though and unfamiliarized with the way I can contribute to an open-source project. Can you help me out with some pieces of advice? I would be really greatfull if you can help me and maybe find some bugs or somthing that you think I can heandle and I promise I will try my best to improve, as much as I can, your project. table export and aliases removal/replacement

Hi Dan, in tbl_export.php you wrote some logic (lines 116 to 172) that deals with aliases. Could you give a use case where this logic is important?
