Hello,
Hi everyone , I'm Sudharshan from India. I've been working with
PHP, Laravel in particular, for a few large scale projects.
I would like to contribute to phpmyadmin. It'd be helpful if someone can
assign me an issue and point to the part in the codebase
relevant to the issue.
I also have this idea of rewriting the code in Laravel. Would love to hear
your suggestions on this idea.
Thanks
Hello Sudharshan am Noel am also a newbie here but just to help you get
faster...The best way for you contribute is to visit the github repository
for phpmyadmin fork it to your account then start attempting simple task
mostly with ones having the newbie tag....More info here

Hi all
I've just updated the demo server.
It now runs PHP 7.0, MariaDB 10.1.21 and MySQL 8.0.0.
Please let me know if something appears broken now as I've made quite a
lot of changes to underlaying VM images.

The phpMyAdmin team announces the release of the 4.7.0-rc1, which is
planned to be the final release candidate before 4.7.0 becomes stable
later this month.
This version is available for public testing before the actual release
of 4.7.0. You can see existing issues or log new ones at
<https://github.com/phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin/issues/>.
A complete list of new features and bugs that have been fixed is
available in the ChangeLog file or changelog.php included with this release.
Changes since 4.7.0-beta1:
* Fix JavaScript errors when using Designer
* Show all databases in dropdown selector, including the current one
* Better defaults when creating a multi-field foreign key
* Improved support for TokuDB
* Improved handling of LoginCookieValidity, this should improve certain
cases where users were getting logged out prematurely
* Fix an error that could occur when copying a database (related to
pmadb/Configuration Storage metadata)
* Fixed OpenDocument exports
* Fixed alignment of NULL values
* Removed error message about client and server version mismatch
* Compatibility fixes when running under HHVM 3.18
* Fix the version check when curl is incorrectly configured
* Change the default export setting for Excel files; now the default is
to include column names in the first row. This is always configurable
with $cfg['Export']['excel_columns']
A few highlights of changes before 4.7.0-beta1:
* Log failed authentication attempts to syslog (useful for parsing by
fail2ban, for example)
* Add filtering for the database list
* Add table filtering to the database 'Structure' tab
* Add support for exporting user settings as a config.inc.php snippet
* Add option to delete settings from browser storage
* Changes to the JSON import and export format to better follow the JSON
specification, however this breaks compatibility with older versions.
See https://docs.phpmyadmin.net/en/latest/import_export.html#json
* Support for IPv6 proxies
* Allow more connection parameters for the controluser connection
* Rename 'Relations' to 'Relationships' in many places as it's a more
correct term
* More documentation for export configuration options
* Remove support for Swekey authentication
* Remove support for old, unsupported versions of Microsoft Internet
Explorer
* Removed $cfg['ThemePath']
Starting with this version, phpMyAdmin uses Composer to manage PHP
library dependencies while under development. Users downloading the
official source distribution will not notice a difference, however users
of the git repository should refer to
<https://docs.phpmyadmin.net/en/latest/setup.html#installing-from-git>
for details.
Also beginning with this version, we've made some changes to the files
available for download. There are now three different packages
available: `all-langauges` and `english` are the same downloads we've
offered for some time, the former featuring all languages for which we
have a reasonable amount of translations and the latter being a smaller
English-only download. We have added a `source` download, which includes
the unit test suite, Gettext po files, documentation source, and
JavaScript source files; these are omitted from the other packages as
most users have no need for them. We have also reduced the number of
compression formats available due to low utilization; for each package
we have .tar.gz, .tar.xz, and .zip formats available.
There are many more improvements; please refer to the ChangeLog for full
details.
As always, downloads are available at <https://www.phpmyadmin.net>
Thanks to our sponsors for helping to make this work possible!

My Questions are How do I officially get the problem assigned to me on
github. Also just as Osaid mentioned in his last mail I have found this
issue but since am new to the code base I will appreciate if someone can
show me what part of the code base to focus on in solving the issue as this
will facilitate my work and I will be able to move to another issue faster,
thanks in advance.

group. I would like to contribute continuesly to the project.
Thanks #phpMyAdmin Devs
Hi,
I think I can answer your queries pretty well as I am a beginner just like
you .
I was looking at the issues which needed to be solved but my bad luck most
of them were out of my knowledge bounds because i know basic php and have
not used phpmyadmin that extensively.
So anyone can please guide me how to find easy or beginner bugs and proceed
with solving them,please?
According to me you should find any beginner bug that is available and no
one is working on it and then ask which part of the code needs the changes.
Then try to learn as you find the fix that particular bug.
For example there was this bug which needed knowledge of phpunit and even
though I had no knowledge about it I volunteered and was able to
successfully submit a bug fix after reading the documentation.
P.S - PMA team is awesome and help me a lot with my PRs
All the best
hey,
I am Vivek from India.I was looking at the ideas given out by Phpmyadmin for GSoC 2017 and i am really interested in working with your organization. The idea which i liked the most was https://github.com/phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin/issues/6197.

My hoster recently added support for securing the hosting admin panel with 2-Factor-Authentification, using Google Authenticator. The only "weak" link left is the ...
As stated in the wiki i will have to send a patch of newbie issue but i need some help doing that.
FIrst i cloned the master branch of the github repository of Phpmyadmin in my pc ,that went smooth , then i am still not getting the idea how to make the code work in my pc.Means how to build the whole application from the code base i cloned from the git repository.
Can you all help me please so that i can check the changes i have made in my code in my pc so that i can be sure before commiting my changes.
thanks in advance.

Hi,
I have gone through the list of enhancements for the project 'Enhancements
collection A' and past conversation on them. I am able to understand most
of the requirements. There are few things I didn't understand as of now:
Google authenticator: Right now, PMA can be used on a local network.
Two-factor authentication would force internet access. Are we considering
it.
Facilitate drag and drop: Are we adding this only for purpose of tables
which are split because of factors like limits of DB engines. Because, a
column of one table may not be of same size as column of other table.
I find there is no issue created for 'New UI for Multi-table query
generator'. Is it okay if I create one.

Raghuram
