[Phpmyadmin-devel] Feature request #1397 - Include fractional seconds in timestamp

Hi all, I am interested in the feature request #1397 [1], which requests that phpMyAdmin support fractional seconds in time, datetime and timestamp data types. After bit of research I found that these data types support trailing fractional seconds up to microseconds (6 digits). For example, the syntax for datetime including fractional seconds would be '2013-04-23 11:21:07.145236'. This syntax is supported from version 5.0 [2], however the fractional seconds were discarded when storing. From version 5.6.4 onwards these fractional seconds are stored and hence this feature request is important. I have looked into the code to implement this feature request and the major problem faced is the incompatibility of JavaScript timepicker used [4], which only supports up to milliseconds (3 digits). I have been improving this JS file to support microseconds, however it is a somewhat big change. I'd like to know whether I should simply alter the external JS file in phpMyAdmin code or I should send a pull request to the timepicker project, so it will be a part of the timepicker project as well. However, with the second option it might take some time till they (hopefully) accept the patch and do a release containing it. Your thoughts on this would be highly appreciated. Hi All, As describes [0] we can configure to use advanced features in PMA including designer feature.I have submited my proposal for this GSOC with the project [1]. There I need to give the user to use this designer functionality without configuring PMA configuration storage like [0].I have some suggestions for this.I would like to ask about the ideas to achieve this task to further improve my proposal. [Phpmyadmin-devel] Unit test failed. Need some guidance to solve it.

Hello, I prepared this patch https://github.com/phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin/pull/290 with the JS fix(that i applied for Firefox) it works correctly both in Firefox and chrome. Updation and insertion both work fine. But for an unknown reason it fails one of the tests. It says "Failed asserting that two arrays are equal" . I don't get it, just added an extra string in that array of functions(Types.class.php). It seems to me that the old array was expected but since i changed it, its creating some kind of problem. I don't know, i never had such situation, so i'm pretty helpless in this case. I'd be grateful, if i can have some points or hints on how to correct it. Thanks Ayush.

Hello my name is Mohamed Ashraf I am a prospective GSOC applicant. I have been sending emails to the mailing list for some time now but due to complications in my subscription in the mailing list it was not being received. Sorry if this is a bit late. I was reading your Ideas list and saw the refactoring of the sql executor. I wanted to ask what is your final vision for it. what do you feel as the best design. Also if there are any bugs or features related to the executor that I could submit with my proposal. I have already done two pull requests, a feature and a bug, but I believe it would have been better if the patch was more related to my proposal

But till the end i couldn't make my mind on which one to select and thus wrote for both of them(Well it took me about 7 days to write about them). Hi, As I am looking to apply for the Automated Testing project this year, I was trying to make a first draft of my proposal here. I had a few questions regarding the same: 1. What aspects of automation and CI would be involved as most of the automated scripts seem to have been done already. Sure, along the way if we feel the need for modifying or adding something, that would be fine. But just wanted to make sure if there are any specific tasks involved here which I could mention in my proposal? 2. Regarding the project schedule, I was wondering if pin-pointing a specific code coverage percentage is a good idea? The aim would surely would be to maximise the code coverage, but the nature of this project is such that a pre determined percentage could be far from accurate in the final deliverables. That said, if there is a specific code coverage level the team would like to be reached, I would like to know. Right now, the two major tasks that the project seems to involve are: 1. Adding more unit tests 2. Adding more selenium tests Let me know if I am missing something here Thanks! -- Ayush Chaudhary

I was equally interested in both Interface improvement and Ajax Error Reporting, but till the end, i couldn't make up my mind for just one, So i submitted proposals for both and left the rest on mentors to decide.
